“We have the ability to create an identity for ourselves and move the nation forward.”
YOUTH – This is the period in life when One is still young, the period between childhood and maturity.
NATION – It’s simply a Country, considered as a group of people living in a certain territory under one government.
Before we go deep into discussing how strong youths can make a country strong, i want us all to agree that the success of a nation fully lies in the hands of youthts, strong and determined youths, filled with tremendous and towering ambitions. However, in order for the success to take place, the government MUST ensure youths are provided with proper facilities for development and are equiped with the knowledge of the modern era.
Today, if I’m not wrong, young people are the ones shaping the future of a Country through their engagements in the society and so, I’m glad as one of them while writing this because I will only be talking about what and how we, the youths have been struggling each day to move our nations forward. Though, I won’t dig deeper into history while talking about how strong youths may lead to the making of a strong nation, from personal experience, I can tell without fear that youths are the backbone of every Country’s development. There is only one thing that I can tell, we the youths will never know how strong we are until we do something that makes our Nation a better place to be. And that’s the fact we all didn’t know.
Young people live for change! They determine the future of a Country and their presence in a Country is strongly felt. They have so much to offer; Creative ideas and the energy needed by a Nation for it’s development. It’s also important toknow that a Country where a population of youths is at least 60% is already a strong Nation and is beyond competition from other Countries of the same population but with less percentage of youths.
Below are just but some of the reasons why I feel convinced and strongly support the fact that STRONGYOUTHS MAKES STRONG NATION Thevision of a Country lies in the hands of the youths. It will be great wastage of human resources if these youths are not given opportunities to exercise their talents, just as it’s clear to everyone that every Nation just need Young energetic persons for that particular nation to shine.
– The primary role of a young person is simply to get a good education in order to become a better Citizen of tomorrow.
Youthsin most Countries have used their creativity; Art and crafts, dance, music, theatre, street arts, photography and many more to turn their Countries into something more admirable.
They are always very inevitable in any economic development agenda. Always self driven, very active and readily available when needed. Some of the stakes that Young people take control of in our societies include; Labour force, playing the front in creating self employments and Businesses.
You will also agree with me that a more determined, focused, ethical and a youth with integrity can be an agent of change. Such youths when they join the government can help about a Country’s economic development by ensuring that the state institutions operates with at most effciency, effectiveness and honesty. When high level of ethics is instilled in a government institution, the eventual art of doing business will be increased and more inventors will be motivated to do business. This will promote revenue exchange and boosting local investment.
Youthshave been very loud in both online and offline forums in a bid to express themselves and condemn the vices taking place in our nations. You will realize these are the places where Young people speak their minds and interests. Through social media, they reach out to each other and in this way they are able to learn about other’s efforts and initiatives. Also through social media, youths are able to create awareness on issues affecting them negatively such as HIV/AIDs and many vices affecting the nation.
Besides that, youths are tecno-sway. All over the world, technologyhas become the Engine of economic development. Youths all over the world are building with brilliant, well natured, can blossom into conglomerates that will Employ thousands of them and pay millions of taxes to the government. Through this, the economy of a country grows.Young people are always the ones very ready and eager to take advantage of new technologies to improve the agricultural sectors which inturn gives raw material for industriesmaking them not to stop working for lack of raw materials. Facts stated, Agriculture remains the base of a country’s development, especially African Countries to be particular. Without Agriculture, most Countries will remain underdeveloped for a very long period of time. We also know that it’s youths through hard work who can make the the agricultural sector stand. Therefore, the role youths in a country plays in the Agricultural sector alone if is cut off or removed, that Country remains useless. It’s important to note that Countries e.g Brazil, China and many African Countries which I won’t mention have rapidly developed due to agriculture, this development is facilitated by the youths and the roles they played, and are playing in production, harvesting, transportation to industries and also processing. To mention but a few.
Creationof employment opportunities; It will be wrong proceed without mentioning one or two ways on how youths have been struggling to create self employments and or to employ fellow youths. The agricultural and industrial sectors alone have employed so many youths because it’s believed they are the ones who can provide Labour for long period of time without getting exhausted. Most Construction works e.g roads and buildings only require the energy provided by these young persons to be completed in time. Youths, have also taken the lead in creating self employments, like Business sector is mostly occupied by youths nowadays. This and many more, makes a Country to move a step forward.
THINGS YOUTHS NEED TO CHANGE THEIR NATIONS, POLITICALLY.
Education — In order to become engaged in politics in the most effective ways, young people needs education. This help them learn about political systems, political actions, political issues and other realities within and around the political system. They can also conduct action learning oriented activities that allow them to gain credit for their involvement. Education is a primary factor!!
Training — Training young people to change their nations through politics means teaching them the skills they need to become involved. These skills include, but not limited to; communication, problem-solving, change management and conflict resolution skills. It also means participating in knowledge-sharing activities designed to build their capacity for powerful action.
Inspiration — Young people may need inspiration to become engaged in politics. Never in history have children and youth been seen or treated as serious political actors; given the opportunity, they will be. Inspiration from stories, parables, biographies and other sources can help prepare and sustain youth in politics.
PROBLEMS FACINGYOUTHS PREVENTINGTHEM FROM GIVINGEFFECIENT SERVICES TO THEIR NATIOON.
- Despite the fact that youths are the majority occupying over 45℅ of the total world population, most of them are either still unemployed or working but still languishing in poverty.
- It’s not always that easy to be a youth and have the capability of successfully competing in today’s labour Market.
- You got to realize without being told twice that globally, majority of people living with HIV/AIDS are the youths. This has affected most developing countries and has become a serious issue especially in less developed Countries like Kenya and Nigeria.
- Education is a primary asset and every youth should have a right to it. A good education opens up opportunities for both lazy and hard working youths, all that is required from them is to be attentive and get what’s being taught. When education is lacking, youths tend to look for others to stand for them instead of them standing for their Countries. Lack of Education also exposes one to drugs and negative actions such as robbery that only harms the Country instead of pushing it forward.
- Most of the people rotting in jails are youths. They are either in prison for their mistakes or by mistake. What I mean is that, either they made the mistake or others made the mistakes but disappeared. And since they were the ones in sight, they were arrested and maybe jailed because they couldn’t defend themselves in ways that could convince the Judiciary. Also, young people are just naturally problematic and unpredictable. Being caught committing a crime by the authority, sent to jail to pay the price for a good period of time can happen toa youth just happen any time. This not only reduces man power, it also lead to wastage of energy and also reduces labour force.
EXAMPLES OF LEADERS WHO STRUGLED AND ARE STILL STRUGGLINGEACH AND EVERY MOMENT TO CHANGE THEIR NATIONS AND TO MAKE IT STRONGARE:
This young, but fearless politician from South Africa was born in 1977. He was elected the chairman of the South African Youth League branch in Seshego and the regional chairman in 1995 at the age of 18. In 1997 when he was just 20 years of age, he became the chairman of the Congress of South African Students (Cosas) for the Limpopo province. Julius Malema was later in 2001 elected as the national president of that organisation and in 2002, he led a Cosas march by school pupils, through Johannesburg. Forgetting to mention This South African strong man while mentioning big names will be an insult to youths who are politically active across the globe. They are the ones leading in the fight against corruption, Apartheid, Abuse of Human Rights and Power
e.t.c. And that is why we MUST talk about them because of what they do, like Julius Malema is an inspiration.
He was born on 14th, May 1984. He is an
American technology entrepreneur and philanthropist best known for co-founding and leading Facebook, as its chairman and chief executive officer. Remember, he is only 33 years old.
Zuckerberg launched Facebook from his dormitory room while still a University student on February 4, 2004 with collegex roommates Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes. After the group began expanding the company across college campuses, it expanded rapidly, reaching one billion users by 2012 and now, Facebook has become a house hold name. It’s being used by almost everyone for different purposes mostly for; Entertainment, education, advertisement, communications e.t.c. Facebook is also a dating site.
Through these, he has created employment to many people and also provide revenue for the government of his Nation.
Since 2010, Time magazine has named him among the 100 wealthiest and most influential people in the world. In December 2016, he was ranked 10th on Forbes list of The World’s Most Powerful People.
The man Aliko Dangote was born on 10th of April 1957 in Nigeria. At the age of 21, he borrowed $3,000 from his uncle
in order to import and sell agricultural commodities in Nigeria, his native country. His business venture quickly became a success, and as a result, he managed to repay the entire loan within three months of starting operations. He is now the richest man in Africa with multi-trillion-
naira conglomerate with many of his Companies in Benin, Ghana, Nigeria, and Togo. Dangote has expanded to cover food processing, cement manufacturing, and freightand. His Companies have employed thousands of people.
In conclusion; All I can say is that we the youths have the biggest role to play in the strong making of our nation. It’s proven beyond all corners of doubts that we are problem solvers, we have a positive influence on other young people and the nation, and are extremely ambitious. We have the ability to create an identity for ourselves and move the nation forward. The only problem is that we can’t be able to do all these without the support of our Government and fellow youths. So, I still believe tha the youths can make their nations more beautiful and shine in success.
I am critical thinker with skills in problem identification and implementation of effective solutions, excellent inter– personal communication and social skills built through extensive training from Samaritans.
