Most importantly, the essay would not bring any benefits if we did not know the roles of young in building this nation.
The term ‘strong nation’ is usually used often when all citizens are engaged in the building of social unity, economic prosperity, political stability, peace in an inclusive and Democratic way.
A nation is built out of the human intellect. This insinuate that a nation cannot be developed or cannot grow without the recognition or collective efforts of all citizens, skilled and unskilled, young and old. Young people are important tool of a nation’s development. Their presence and contributions are highly needed. Young people are main portrait for change; and as the saying goes, “The youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow, but also the partners of today.” also, another saying goes “show me the heroes that the youth of your country look up to and I will tell you the future of your country”.It is well known that the most vibrant section of every society is the youth. Therefore, the youth have the responsibility of being at the fore-front of any national exercise.
The period when a man is full of energy, ambitions and zest for life is at the youthful stage. The power possessed by youth is a recognised force today. The power or the energy can be used for both constructive and destructive purposes. Whenever there is unrest in a country, political forces use youth for their further selfish interests.
Youth Leadership skills are relevant to young people’s personal development, as well as their role within a group. On a personal level, youth experiences gain insight into themselves. This helps them analyze their strengths and weaknesses and set personal and vocational goals. On a group level, youth develop the ability to work with others to create a shared vision and to draw on the talents, skills, and energy of others.
The task of building a strong nation is very challenging and can be divided into phases. Everyone can contribute towards it according to his or her capabilities. The young people should be made to understand a specific project and its importance to the society. They should be given a suitable direction so that they can work hard for its fulfilment. This will make them satisfied by the realisation that they have been assigned roles in the nation building. They would be prepared to work sincerely for the welfare of the society and the country.
Every citizen, say the youths, should always have it at the back of their mind that building a strong nation is a collective effort of all citizens especially the youth in constructing, building, developing, a desired country. No contribution or support is too small or too big. It must also be noted that building a strong nation starts from the community level up to the national level.
The best and the first and foremost way to strengthen our youth are to provide them education. Not just any kind of education, but the right kind of education which makes them scientific, logical, open-minded, self respecting, responsible, honest and patriotic. Without these virtues being developed, our youth cannot walk in the desired way and they will remain in a deep slumber of complacency.
Using Nigeria my country as an example, many problems have been faced due to problems like lack education problems; as an illiterate or as a graduate, They have to rely on senators, political appointees and politicians to write recommendation letters for them before they can get jobs in federal establishments. We’ve to pay hundreds of thousands of Naira to get jobs in public and private organisations – a situation that is akin to a broad day light robbery. Merit no longer holds a place in the system. Galloping unemployment has reduced young Nigerians to guinea pigs in the laboratory of the labour market. Today, a typical young Nigerian writes a series of tests and goes for innumerable interviews just for a 50,000 Naira job. To make an already deplorable situation worse, nepotism is introduced into the mix, with someone making up a list of prospective employees full of relations and children of friends. Young Nigerians are compelled by the hostile economic reality to stay for years at home for lack of jobs. They are left with decayed social services and have no choice but to pay for whatever they want. This is Nigeria at its worst of times.
The story is not different for those who find themselves lucky to get a job; for with the job comes the realisation that the Naira has been devalued, and the cost of living high, that the average young Nigerian finds it difficult to marry not to talk of raising a family. Most disheartening is the fact that the young people are confronted with the Nigerian private sector crisis. The predominant features of this economic malady are jobs without job security, overworking the employee with a remuneration that is abysmally less than commensurate with the quantum of work assigned to the employee. The banks are the major culprits here, assigning outrageous targets to workers with an option of being thrown out of the job if they fail to meet targets. The plight of the average young Nigerian becomes all the more pathetic when one considers their virtual inability to renew their rents and to afford the some basic necessities of life. Concisely, the polity is mercilessly competitive and the environment extremely hostile for the average young Nigerian to start anything serious. These are the consequences, which flow from a damaged and neglected society; a society, which is radically different from that of our fathers when companies and government agencies lined up to recruit graduates. Today, the Nigerian youth is advised to embrace entrepreneurship, yet, the government would not create the enabling environment for such enterprise to thrive. Because nothing is done on merit, the average young person comes away with the impression that hard work and intelligence do not pay.
Unless this problem is treated with more concern and more attention, this very knowledgeable youth can tip over the other side and become destructive and dangerous for the society, crime is on high and violence is increasing in today’s time. If we look at the data, we realize that our youth is losing touch with a sense of right and wrong or good and bad. This is because, as a nation, we have failed in our duty of capturing their energy and moulding it in the right direction. Due to increasing unemployment, we have been unable to keep our youth busy in constructive works. We fail to help them in realizing their dreams and hence they get lost and go in the wrong direction as the saying goes “An empty mind is the devil’s workshop”. We have failed poorly in this direction. The result is that nothing inspires our youth except shortcuts to making money, to achieve success and realizing their dreams. We have failed to give them the right kind of opportunities. Look at our own youth overseas – working? I wonders. Why can’t they do it here, in their own country? The answer lies in the lack of opportunities which they find in plenty in other countries. The loss is completely ours. A whole era of the nation will, hi a few years be empty of its posterity as a result of this increasing tendency to go abroad and get settled – called the Brain Drain of the country. It is high time we prevent our youth from leaving the country or giving into violence and terrorism by providing them better options, by strengthening them, by empowering them.
Youth is the time of life when one is young, but often means the time between childhood and adulthood or maturity. It is also defined as “the appearance, freshness, vigor, spirit, etc., characteristic of one who is young”. Its definitions of a specific age range varies, as youth is not defined chronologically as a stage that can be tied to specific age ranges; nor can its end point be linked to specific activities, such as taking unpaid work.
First of all, we have that the “Youth” are the period between childhood and adulthood.
Secondly, the “Nation” is a country considered as a group of people living in a certain territory under one Government.
Thirdly, we also have to know the meaning of “Building” which does not necessarily means masonry construction. Instead, it means the development of the nation, the future of each country.
The vision of a country lies in the hands of the youth. They are filled with tremendous and towering ambitions. It will be a great wastage of human resources if these youths are not given an opportunity to exercise their talent. All the nations need these youths in order for the soil to become a brighter one.
The primary role of young people is to get a good education in order to become better citizens of tomorrow. They need to learn skills to do the job that their country’s economy needs. They also need to know how to read, write, think, understand, analyze, and discuss the issues their country faces.
The entire success of the nation depends on the youth.
Let us focus on constructively using the power of the youth for the betterment of the nation. Let us frame such policies which aim at empowering our youth so that we can be assured of a
better future and a brighter tomorrow.
Youth is the spring of life. It is the age of discovery and dreams. They have the power to transform the nation into a better place. They also have the ability to lead their fellow citizens into the right direction. Youths are fighters. They fight for an identity in society, equality, the homeless, bullying, unemployment, exploitation, poverty and other problems which the world faces today.
All of them hopes for a world full of opportunities, so great minds can conquer them and become better individuals. They need good morals and values to handle conflicts in a positive way.
We have aspiring doctors, entrepreneurs, scientists, and who knows; maybe the next president. Youth are strong forces in social movements.
Youths are problem solvers. Our nations need them to resolve most of our problems. The nation is facing a lot of problems, and I believe that the youths are capable of solving them. They just need to be given a chance to prove themselves. Youths have the power to unite individuals in the three ethnic groups. Racism is an ongoing issue around the world. Individuals are fighting against each other because of the complexion of their skin and the texture of their hair. Religion is another issue, the youths can convince their fellow man to live in peace and love. All of us are one and we should not allow these little differences to push us away from each other.
In conclusion, Building a strong nation is a collective effort of all citizens but most especially the youth. As an old saying goes: “the youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also the partners of today”. The Youth, as the energetic ambitious and highly capable people, have the responsibility, passion and power of being at the fore-front in developing the nation in a democratic and constructive way.
Not forgetting , Youth leadership is a significant element to ensure the concept of A strong country developed can not change to becoming undeveloped except the country refuses the power of its youth . Also, Youth play a very important role to demonstrate their potential, motivation and passions of making a different in our nation . The young generation, as tomorrow’s leaders; have to think together as one. The opportunity of improving our leadership skills is being given to us by taking part in national, civil and community activities. Youth leadership programmes will give emphasis on the role of youths in society and fostering national unity with a sense of common and shared destiny to develop the mutual trust and respect among different races in the nation at the young age and promote the well-being of the country. Moreover, Youth organisations are important and contribute to building a strong nation and development because youth organisations have served as a training ground for many national leaders in the world’s history. As empowerment emphasizes development of collective rather than individual goals, it will henceforth lead to capacity building and setting the agenda for changes for Nations.
In an effort to attain developed nation status , the government of every nation have to make strategic thrusts for the development of youths by improving the access to education and training, inculcating the spirit of competitiveness among youths, strengthening the legal framework of youth development programs; increasing participation of youths in youth organizations, and promoting national unity and social integration.
Most importantly, the essay would not bring any benefits if we did not know the roles of young in building this nation. With the profession of many disciplines, youths should not only develop their personal technical skill but also be creative thinker, good communiator and think positively to distribute to group success.
In fact, youth leaders, as the powerful pressure groups and guardians of transparency, will enable themselves to query government policies and performance for corrective action to be taken for the development of a Nations nation. This is essential for youth organisations and their leaders to champion these new challenges – to check and balance in all major issues, government policies and implementation, because youth comprises a significant proportion of the worlds population.
