The development of youth cannot be separated from the support of the government.
Only when policy support is in place can youth play the biggest role.
When one talks of the African youths, what really comes to mind is a race of uncivilised young adults with limited ambitions and unplanned future. However this is not the case and the assumption of the African youths is entirely wrong. African youths are ambitious with future goals and ambitious but with limited or no hopes of achieving them due to the scarce opportunities presented. The opportunies in place call for stiff competition and due to imbalances within the screening processes, many African youths miss out on sharing there whole new ideas to the world.
When I was 10, I had a vision of becoming a huge pop musician so that I could use my voice to create a difference in my country and solicit for international sympathy on the ongoing wars in the northern Uganda so that peace would duelling once again. However my dreams were shattered due to limited exposure and connections to those presenting opportunities for me to share my views. Currently am 22 years old but still kept pursuing my talent and vision to raise a voice across borders so as to stop the ongoing hass attacks in Syria.
However African youths need equal provision of resources, opportunities, exposure and a wide and broader system of education. Many African youths end up dropping out of schools due to poverty threats, income inequalities and poor standards of living. We have all ideas that if put on paper and later action would transform this entire world a more diversed and efficient nation. Coalitions between African countries and international countries for example china-africa coalition expands opportunities to the African youths and the benefits attached to it.
Many African youths graduate from different educational institutions and end up taking up small scale business and some stay un employed for years which eventually discourages them from taking business risks or starting up profitable ventures. The educational sector in most African countries is your create more job seekers than creators which discourages our youths with ambitions to become strong leaders in the near future.
EMPOWERING THE AFRICAN YOUTHS
Once presented with a an efficient and effective education set up, African youths will become productive in that they will attain high levels of skills, knowledge and understanding on performing relevant tasks expected of them. A well revised education that has passed through critical analysis and study should be extended to all African youths no matter the location they inhabit. Equality should be paramount and various advanced techniques should be experienced so as create a diversity in handling of courses. Numerous schools and universities should be extended to different parts of the country so as to to extend educational facilities to the African youths in the different parts of the country and a broader skill and technical handling of jobs, material and natural resources should be taught to the youths so as to equip them with skills and knowledge on business handling and leadership management and administration.
African youths will only build the nation if they are given access to financial job opportunities where there efforts are relayed according to their work input. Jobs attract many African youths to take up positions in organisations and perform tasks efficiently so as to get rewarded. African youths should be taught to be job creators so as to reduce on the high levels of the un employed youths who impose a threat to the government of their nations since they en up taking on illegal activities so as to survive in the expensive economy. Enormous skills should be passed on to the youths so as they can relatively and efficiently utilities the abundant resources exposed unto them such as land, water bodies and natural gas so as to establish firms such as agro based industries, fishing companies and oil and gas companies respectively which in the long run provides employment opportunities to the locals and the African youths at large
African youths should be given responsibilities such as provided with leadership positions so as to prepare them for bigger roles in developing the nation. Such responsibilities empowers them with experience and knowledge to make decisions on behalf of the citizens of their community which brings about introduction of better leaders and variety of new ideas in the leadership set up of a nation. The youths know more problems facing the public than those in government since they are the ones experiencing such problems. It’s hence not efficient to pass leadership of the youth to an age bracket which knows less of their grievances. Organisations through communities should be vetted and youth should thus be given leadership roles within them. Even in business organisations, youths should as well be promoted to positions which provides them with opportunities to make reliable decisions.
YOUTH ORGANISATION PLATFORMS
The youth are the future of our nations, however our present youths are denied the right to socialise with their fellow youths within the nation and allover the world. This has greatly reduced on the productivity of our youths due to the limited numbers of youth organisations where youths can share relevant information on pressing matters and ideas on development. The government in partnership with strong and empowering bodies should be able to create platforms where the youth can socialise freely and more efficiently so as to being out the best in them. The ideas and knowledge is there but where to share and exert them is limited. The government should then create organisations which focuses on the youths and ways in which they can be empowered and included in the countries long term goals. The youths should be part of the countries struggle and should as well enjoy the achievements which the country has so far attained equally, freely and fairly
Whats the benefit of empowering a more profitable, productive and efficient youth whom we can not assist financially. The African youths are brilliant and intelligent to create jobs and make technological advancements but however due to the financial problems alarming within the African countries discourages their development motives. It’s however upon the government to take up such brilliant ideas and invest required funds to turn such ideas into actually work so as to bring about new entrepreneurs and scientists out of the African youths. The government should hence provide these youths with banks that provide loans with realistic collateral requirements, provides attractive subsidise to youths engaging in profitable business so as to lure more youths into taking up the ideas and strategies as well. Therefore banks and other financial institutions should be extended through out the country
The retirement policies in many African countries is a major reason for the weakness in character of many African youths. This is because many elderly personnels cling into top leadership positions and jobs hence creating a hinder for the youths whore are more productive and efficient to take up such positions. Many African leaders and employees don’t want to retire and thus make promotions and employment of youths difficult hence subjecting the youths to an angry mob that causes instability within the country in a short run. African youths are entitled to job employments and a right to participate in leadership within the country. They are more aware of the problems of the people since they are the ones majorly facing such oppressing matters and stand a higher chance of solving it better. Therefore a standard and revised age limit should be passed and lawfully followed
How much should the youths be paid and what fringe benefits should they enjoy? It is really miserable for our youths to work for longer hours and perform difficult and risky tasks at the end of The day be paid low wages. This is a big source of discouragement amongst the youths. Many youths are heading and managing families of their own which calls for necessities which are as well expensive to purchase and with the low wages they become even more difficult to acquire. It is upon the government through its initiatives to stand their grounds and work upon such injustices amongst the youth by regulating it’s wage laws on favour of the youths so as to enable them sustain their lives and those of their families through meetings the costs of living and maintaining their standards of life. A hard work is payed with a satisfactory wage or salary so as to boost performance and attract more efficiency.
In conclusion, African youths are the future of their nations, but a lot of effort is to be made so as to shape them into becoming better leaders and economically efficient developers not the country. A lot of emphasis should be placed on them and the government should work hand in hand with friendly nations to shape our youths to become better leaders then they ever were.
It’s hover on the hands of the government to make sure throug it’s initiatives to support the youth through partnership with foreign countries to extend all funded organisations to the youth and I guarantee you a big change will surfactant the youth will make this nation stronger
